
Neurological Rehabilitation
RHCI provides comprehensive rehabilitation to patients with a variety of neurological conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and Guillian Barré Syndrome. The goals of neurological rehabilitation are to ensure optimal physical, emotional and social adjustment, to maximize functional independence, and to improve quality of life. RHCI’s team includes a neurologist with expertise in the behavioral and psychiatric effects of neurological injury and disease; rehabilitation physicians experienced in the physical, cognitive and social effects of neurological disorders; and therapists trained in specific techniques of neurorehabilitation.

Advanced therapy technologies, including the LiteGait to improve mobility, the NESS H200 to promote return of hand function, the NESS L300 to improve foot drop, and Vital Stim to improve swallowing.

Comprehensive educational program for patients and family

Supportive counseling to help patient and family adjust to their new life situation

Specialty resources, ordered by the patient’s physician as appropriate, including speech and language pathology, neuropsychology, on-site swallowing studies, home safety evaluation, Audiology Services, Driver Assessment Program, Low Vision Program, Orthotics Clinic, Prosthetics Clinic, etc.

Patient-centered discharge planning, including follow-up outpatient care and links to community resources

RHCI offers an array of Outpatient Multiple Sclerosis services to improve or maintain functional independence for the person with MS. Treatment options include physiatry consultation; physical, occupational and speech therapies; pain management; spasticity management, and more.

Multiple Sclerosis Support Group provides support and education for persons with MS and their families. The group meets at RHCI on the third Sunday of each month, 2 – 4 p.m.
