The Rehabilitation Team

Each patient's Rehabilitation Team includes:

• Physician specializing in neurology and/or rehabilitation medicine
• Primary nurse
• Pharmacist
• Physical therapist
• Occupational therapist
• Speech and language pathologist
• Nutritionist
• Rehabilitation aide
• Therapeutic recreation specialist

Others available to join the patient's team, as needed, include a social worker, respiratory therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, orthotist, audiologist, or other rehabilitation professionals.

Shortly after admission, the team meets with the patient, family, and immediate support group to develop a treatment plan tailored to the patient's specific circumstances and goals.  The team provides coordinated, intensive rehabilitation and education to help the patient reach an optimum level of mobility, independence with daily activities, and quality of life.  Ongoing collaboration among physician, nurse, pharmacist and therapists allows the team to fine-tune medications so the patient can receive the greatest benefit from the rehabilitation experience.
