Lee Silverman Voice Treatment
LSVT® is a proven, effective speech therapy program that improves oral communication in individuals with Parkinson’s disease beyond what current medical and surgical interventions can often achieve. LSVT® has also helped individuals with multiple sclerosis, stroke, ataxic dysarthria, aging voice, vocal fold paralysis, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome.
Using the LSVT® approach, speech and language therapists focus on a very specific target: increasing vocal loudness. Improving the loudness factor enhances an individual’s ability to produce and coordinate speech. The technique quickly allows patients to incorporate learned communication strategies in their work or home environment, enhancing self-confidence and quality of life.
