
Parkinson's Disease Community-Based Wellness Program
A better quality of life in six weeks.
Recent research demonstrates that people with Parkinson’s Disease may improve their quality of life by joining a rehabilitation program that emphasizes exercise and education. RHCI’s Parkinson’s Disease Wellness Program features specific exercises to improve balance, walking, posture and speaking. Each session also includes education about strategies to enhance management of the disease and group discussion and support.
The program includes:
- Stretching and strengthening
- Activities to improve mobility
- Fitness activities
- Discussion of wellness strategies
- Instruction to continue the program at home
Who can participate:
The person with Parkinson’s Disease must be able to:
- Walk 100 feet without the assistance of another person
- Maintain attention and follow directions for 1 1/2 hours
- Arrive at class independently or with assistance from a caregiver
Schedule:
- Tuesdays and Thursdays
- 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 2:30. Call for current schedule.
- Each session runs 6 weeks
