Visiting RHCI

H1N1 (flu) Alert:  Temporary Visitor Restrictions Cancelled

RHCI has lifted the ban on visitors 18 or younger effective January 12, 2010.  The ban had been put in place on November 11, 2009 as the number of cases of H1N1 flu rose on the Cape and in surrounding communities.   In view of the smaller number of cases that have occurred, RHCI joined other hospitals in the region and made the decision to lift the ban after consultation with the Department of Public Health.

Usual precautions regarding protecting patients from seasonal and H1N1 flu remain in effect.

  • No visitors with symptoms of the flu.
  • If a visitor has experienced symptoms of the flu, he or she should wait 72 hours after the last symptom has resolved before visiting.

Outpatient Visits

Anyone coming to RHCI for outpatient therapy or physician services who has flu symptoms should reschedule her or her appointment.

We know that this policy may be challenging, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.  We are grateful for your understanding and cooperation as we take these necessary steps to protect all our patients.

General Visiting Policy

The support of family and friends is an important part of the rehabilitation process. Children are welcome with supervision.  If special visiting times are necessary, we will do everything we can to accommodate your family's schedule.

Visiting hours are liberal so that patients can benefit from the ongoing encouragement of loved ones.

Visiting Hours

  • Weekdays: 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Weekends: 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

RHCI also offers ample free parking and easy access from Rte. 6, the Mid-Cape Highway.

Smoking Policy
To promote the health of patients, visitors and staff, RHCI is a smoke-free environment.  Smoking is prohibited within the hospital, on surrounding walkways and therapy areas, and on hospital grounds.

We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for helping us maintain a healthy environment by not smoking on hospital premises.

In the Interest of Our Patients
To reduce the risk of spreading infections to our patients, we ask that visitors refrain from visiting if they have any of the following

  • Cold (coughing, sneezing, etc.)
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Stomach "flu"

Visitors should wait 48 hours after their last symptom before visiting with an RHCI patient.

We ask all visitors to practice good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette while visiting at RHCI.
