Investment in Technology & Innovation

Specialized rehabilitation technologies and exercise equipment enhance the patient's response to therapy, giving the patient the best chance for the fullest possible recovery.

RHCI is a leader in applying cutting-edge neuro-rehabilitation technology, such as the NESS L300 and NESS H200 (link to L300 news release archive and H200 news release archive), to accelerate recovery from stroke, brain injury and other neurological disorders.  Other specialized technologies include the LiteGait (to facilitate walking), the SaeboFlex (to restore hand function), and VitalStim (to improve swallowing).

RHCI has also developed innovative therapy programs, including the USGA-funded Back in the Swing Adapted Golf Program, to help our patients reconnect with their communities through leisure and social activities after discharge.

In addition, RHCI is an innovator in developing systems to enhance patient safety.  RHCI was one of the first hospitals in the state to establish an inter-disciplinary Medication Reconciliation Program (involving Nursing, Pharmacy, Quality Improvement and Medical staffs) to reduce the chance of medication errors.  Recent developments include the adoption of computers on wheels and sophisticated scanning technology to allow for bedside verification of each patient's medications.
